Hotels and Inns in Llanfairpwllgwyngyll - Err yes this is that place....

Back in the 1860's one can only surmise there was a group of local eccentrics sitting around a table with several empty bottles of Welsh Whisky (yes they do make it) and someone had the bright idea of renaming the local Railway Station as:

"Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch"

As the longest Railway Station name in the world this would ultimately attract tourists from all over to have their photos taken with the Station Name as the backdrop!

Pronounced as - "Llan-fair-pwll-gwyn-gyll-go-ger-ych-wyrn-drob-wll-llan-ty-silio-go-go-goch" it roughly translates as "Saint Mary's Church in the hollow of the white hazel near a rapid whirlpool and the Church of Saint Tysilio of the red cave" (actually there are a few subtle variants to this as there is no single agreed English translation)

Set towards the heart of the island, Llangefni is the second largest settlement and the County Town of Anglesey
